Making your Own Pizza

Making your own pizza is one of those great things in food which leaves you with dozens of options. Any combination you can think of is good for pizza, making the whole experience of making your own quite fun, and ideal to do with friends and family.

To make your own pizza, an easy shortcut is to buy a ready made pizza base. Making the pizza base is arguably the hardest part, particularly if you’ve got no experience with making bread. To simplify the process a bit, you can either purchase the dough ready made, or buy the rolled out pizza base. Once you’ve got this part down, the rest is pretty easy:

All pizzas are made with a tomato bas. This is what acts to bind the other ingredients to your pizza base and gives your pizza a lot of its flavour. After this you put your variety of toppings on, some of your options are:

  • Pepperoni and other salami’s
  • vegetables like onions, spinach, mushrooms
  • Fruit like peppers, chilli’s, tomato’s, olives, pineapple
  • Fish like anchovies or prawns
  • chicken pieces
  • bits of beef or pork or ham

The last part of any pizza is cheese. A traditional option is mozzarella, but you can also use other varieties of cheese like ricotta. This serves to seal in the rest of your ingredients.

To cook a perfect pizza, you want to cook it for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees centigrade. You should try to turn it regularly and check to make sure that it isn’t over done.
